Samba: windows software reports read only share, when really writeable

Keywords: smb, samba, windows, acl, network
Versions: windows 2000, samba 3.0.20b-3.3-SUSE

The problem causes read only warnings as well as 'save as' dialogs to appear instead of regular file saves. There appears to be an issue with ACLs. If ACLs are not needed, adding the following line to the affected shares in 'smb.conf' will solve the problem:
nt acl support = no
