Provence and Alps [Nov 19, 2017; Photography]

With the usual delay, here are the pictures from my cycling vacation in Provence and French Alps.

Hong Kong [Sep 24, 2016; Photography]

With almost a year delay, the Hong Kong pictures are now online.

Singapore [Nov 23, 2015; Photography]

Some may call Singapore boring, but to those who believe in the powers of economics it is close to paradise on earth. Apart from a short Japanese invasion it has been pretty lucky with its leaders who all saw economic growth as main goal. Contrary to common European belief this has not led to enslavement of the work force but instead generated wealth for many, making Singaporeans love their country in an almost scary way.

Vosgese Road Cycling [Nov 8, 2015; Photography]

Finally found some time to put up the pictures of the first week of my vacation marathon. The first week took me to the Vosgese mountains to test my shape pedalling up some of the classic climbs of the Tour de France.

Pinhole Camera [Jul 17, 2011; Photography]

No lens, just a pierced cap on the camera body. The pictures were taken on the Spicheren heights close to Saarbrücken. These were hotspots during both world wars, leaving behind many memorials, bunkers and even a tank. So it seemed like a good place to take pictures with such an old style "lens". (And yes, it also has nice bike trails.)

La Palma [Aug 8, 2010; Photography]

I'm back from hiking La Palma and already did a quick skim through the photos and selected a few for my website.

Flash Trickery [May 10, 2009; Photography]

Pictures taken with flash are usually crap, because they look flat, pale and boring. A while ago I learned that this problem could be overcome by using flash(s) which are placed independent of the camera. This kind of setup is very time consuming however, so I seldom do this.

Simserhof [Nov 9, 2008; Photography]

Fort Simserhof was one of the biggest fortresses of the Maginot Line. After the war it was rebuilt and in military use into the 50s. Today it is open to tourists.

Madeira [Oct 12, 2008; Photography]

I'm now back from the second part of my vacation which led me to Madeira. Its a nice and quite island with decent hiking options.

Paris [Sep 28, 2008; Photography]

With the new ICE train to Paris taking less than 2 hours, it would have been a sin not to go there for vacation.

Canon EF 75-300 USM vs. EF 100-300 USM [Sep 19, 2008; Photography, German]
